Uttarakhand. Today, Haridwar MP and former CM Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji in Lucknow. Rawat talked to Yogi ji about the consent of the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the Iqbalpur Nangal project and submitted a proposal to him.
MP Trivendra said that with the implementation of this project, while 15,280 hectares of agricultural land of Uttarakhand will be irrigated, 17,850 hectares of agricultural land of Uttar Pradesh will also be benefited. This project has been proposed in the name of Kharif Channel. He also said that thousands of farmers of Bhagwanpur, Bahadarabad and Roorkee area of Haridwar district of Uttarakhand will get the benefit of irrigation from this project. Along with this, this project will also prove to be very useful for the farmers of Baliyakhedi and Nangal area of Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Rawat said that in this scheme, 74 villages of Haridwar district will get direct benefit of irrigation facility, while 85 villages of Uttar Pradesh will come under the purview of benefit. He also said that with the construction of this project, 2,48,358 population of Haridwar district will get significant benefits in farming, while 2,25,900 population of Uttar Pradesh will get the benefit. Giving more information, he said that the total length of irrigation canal proposed in the project is 72.8 km, out of which 35 km is part of Uttarakhand. He said that this project will act as a lifesaver for the farmers.
