Uttarakhand. Rain caused heavy destruction in Champawat district, one woman dead, one missing, many roads including NH closed, many buildings in danger, administration in alert mode, DM canceled leave of officers

Continuous torrential rain in Champawat district for two days has caused heavy destruction in the area, where the Tanakpur Pithoragarh all-weather road is closed at many places for two days, 30 meters of NH in Lohaghat has been washed away, while a woman died due to collapse of Gaushala in Dhorja village on the border of Lohaghat, and three buildings came under the grip of landslide due to cloudburst in Matiyani area, in which five people got buried, villagers have saved four people safely by risking their lives, one woman is missing, whose search is going on, while due to road closure and bad weather, relief and rescue team including SDM are stranded on the way, while the building of Amodi Degree College has come under the grip of Koirala river, the Dharamshala of Adi Devta temple in Bhigrada has come under the grip of landslide It has collapsed.

The jeep parked on the road of Lohaghat Degree College Naskhola has been swept away by the debris. The building in Chamdeval has come under threat due to landslide. The water has entered the house due to the closure of Kalamath in Pulla Road of Lohaghat. Apart from this, the debris entered the house of Laxman Singh in Raikot by breaking the doors of his house. The family members somehow escaped and saved their lives. Two buildings have been damaged due to the fall of a deodar tree in the house of Lohaghat’s outgoing councilor Meena Dhek. The JCB machine engaged in the disaster has been swept away from the road along with the debris due to cloudburst near Digalichod, in which the operator and helper have suffered serious injuries. The electricity system has been disrupted due to the fall of 10/12 trees simultaneously in Barakot sub-station. The phone of Ramesh Chandra Tiwari in Santola is in grave danger.

The administration has shifted his family to the temple’s dharamshala. Apart from this, due to the closure of Tanakpur Pithoragarh NH, hundreds of vehicles and passengers are stranded. Internal routes are closed, people’s fields, barns and buildings are in danger. The region’s Mahakali, Ramganga, Saryu and other rivers are flowing above the danger mark. The administration is keeping an eye on the situation. DM Navneet Pandey has cancelled the leave of all the officers and the administrative machinery has been put on alert mode. In Lohaghat, under the leadership of SDM Rinku Bisht, all the officers are keeping an eye on the situation. Due to the blockage of road drains and kalmaths, water has entered the village at many places.

 

The rain has caused havoc everywhere. The people are in panic due to the fierce form of rain. The administration has kept all the schools and Anganwadi centers of the district closed for safety. At present, there is no information of any casualty from anywhere. At the same time, there is a lot of anger among the people against PWD and other departments. People said that if the departments had opened the drains and culverts in time, such a disaster would not have happened. Chief Minister Dhami has instructed the officials to immediately start rain and rescue work. Overall, the rain has caused havoc in Champawat district.
