Rishikesh (Dehradun).THDC India Limited has achieved an important milestone in enhancing India’s power generation capabilities. THDC is a Mini Ratna (Schedule-A) public sector company.

Chairman and Managing Director of the Corporation, R.K. Giving information on this achievement, Vishnoi said that Unit-1 of 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) was successfully coordinated with the National Grid on October 28, 2024. He said that this moment marks a significant progress in THDC’s commitment to the thermal power sector.

The coal firing process was also successfully completed within a few hours of oil coordination. Praising the efforts of the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project team, he said that this achievement is an important step in the expansion of thermal power sector of THDC India Limited, which will significantly contribute to India’s energy self-reliance. He said that the coordination of Unit-1 is not only a technical achievement, but it is also a symbol of our commitment to strengthen India’s power generation capacity.

Highlighting the importance of the project, Bhupendra Gupta, Director (Technical) on this special occasion said that with this achievement, Khurja Super Thermal Power Project will start playing an important role in power supply. He said that this will help in ensuring continuous and reliable power supply in case of fluctuating renewable energy sources and at times of peak demand.

THDC’s strategic entry into the thermal power sector a few years ago complements its existing renewable energy projects. This balanced and affordable energy portfolio is designed to meet the growing energy demands of the nation and ensure energy security. The Corporation is committed to adopting advanced technologies to reduce environmental impacts and exploring cleaner fuel alternatives, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Also on this occasion M.K. NTPC’s consulting team led by Asthana, Executive Director (NTPC Consulting) along with representatives from various agencies including BHEL, LMB, STEAG, and GE participated.
