The villagers in the disaster-prone village Chukum, which falls under the Ramnagar Forest Division adjacent to Corbett Park, are troubled by a double blow. On one hand, due to the recent rains, many farmers’ houses and lands were washed away, and now the villagers are also facing the problem of tiger terror.
The villagers in Chukum village of Mohan area are forced to live in the shadow of fear due to the terror of the tiger. The tiger is continuously preying on the domestic cattle of the villagers. The villagers said that in the last two months, the tiger has preyed on more than 4 cattle. The presence of the tiger is constantly being seen in this area, due to which the villagers are forced to live in the shadow of fear.
Giving information, Ramnagar Forest Division DFO Digant Nayak said that for security reasons, our forest workers are patrolling and keeping a constant watch in the area. He said that if continuous movement of tiger is seen in the area, then action will be taken to install a cage after taking permission from the Chief Wild Warden.
