Dehradun. (21 September 2024) Officers should work on war footing for better implementation of quality of health services. This was said by Mrs. Swati S. Bhadauria, Mission Director, National Health Mission during the two-day district review meeting of Chief Medical Officer of various programs run under NHM. The review meeting was organized in the National Health Mission Auditorium, Dehradun.

The Mission Director directed all the Chief Medical Officers for the construction works approved under the action plan of National Health Mission, Uttarakhand in the state and held meetings with the implementing agencies from time to time to monitor the progress and quality and complete the works within time as per the MoU and hand them over to the department as soon as possible so that they can be operated for public welfare.

He said that Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) is an important and ambitious scheme of the Government of India. Under which, instructions were given to monitor the progress and quality of construction works of Critical Care Block (CCB), District Integrated Public Health Lab (DIPHL) and Block Public Health Unit (BPHU) and those BPHUs whose construction has been completed should be made operational soon. Also, instructions were given to the concerned officers to send information regarding availability of land for construction of proposed CCB, DIPHL and BPHU soon.

Mrs. Swati S. Bhadauria gave instructions to the Chief Medical Officers to monitor the progress and quality of construction works of BPHU and Sub Center under 15th Finance Commission and to send information regarding availability of land for new construction.

Under the Sickle Cell Eradication Program, 8 districts of the state have completed the screening of sickle cell, the remaining 5 districts were directed to complete the screening in the next 15 days.

During the review meeting, the work of ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers was described as important and orders were given for sensitization of ASHAs posted in the state. He said that ASHAs have an important role in making the benefits of health programs reach the general public, for which it should be ensured that ASHAs are sensitized, so that all the information about the programs being run by the National Health Mission Health Department can reach the general public.

During the meeting, instructions were given from a high level to honor the districts identified by the Government of India under the TB Free Panchayat Abhiyan being run under the National TB Eradication Program.

During the review meeting, emphasis was laid on filling the vacant posts under the National Health Mission on Human Resources as soon as possible in comparison to the existing posts. He said that the number of health workers, their training and deployment status should be checked in all the districts of the state.

In the review meeting, the promotion and dissemination of health awareness programmes and their effectiveness was evaluated by the Mission Director. He directed to disseminate information about all the programmes being run under the National Health Mission and their benefits to the general public.

Dr Narendra Sharma, Director General of Health Services, Dr Manu Jain, Director NHM, Dr Tripti Bahuguna, Advisor SHRC, Chief Medical Officers of all districts, Assistant Director NHM and officers and employees of National Health Mission were present in the meeting.
