Champawat. Champawat police has arrested the accused from Gujarat who sold three youths of Banbasa area to Myanmar for scamming by luring them with the promise of getting them a job abroad. The three hostage youths of Banbasa area were brought back safely through the Indian Embassy.
On July 10, 2024, Rajendra Singh Saun, son of Ram Singh, a resident of Banbasa, gave a written complaint to Banbasa police and told that his son Lalit Son along with his friends Vikas, Kamlesh and three youths of Khatima had left for Delhi in search of employment from home, from where these people left for Bangkok. Now there is no contact with them and neither is there any information about them. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Banbasa police registered Section 365 IPC.
Meanwhile, SP Champawat Ajay Ganpati took serious cognizance of the matter and corresponded with the Indian Embassy for the safe recovery and return of the missing youths as the matter was related to India as well as the non-national Bangkok, Myanmar, considering the seriousness of the matter.
During investigation, it came to light to the police that Rahul Upadhyay along with his friend Jai Joshi, a resident of Gujarat, whose real name is Jaideep Ramji Tokadia, lured seven youths of Uttarakhand and unemployed youths of other states by promising them good jobs abroad and called them from India to the non-national Bangkok and sold them to foreign companies for Rs. 10,000 per person. Where the foreign companies took them to a secret place in Myanmar and held them hostage to get the scamming work done and if they did not do the work, they were beaten and mistreated and forced to work and a huge amount of money was demanded from them to send the hostage youths back to India. SP Ajay Ganpati told while revealing the case.
Accused Jai Joshi whose real name is Jaideep Ramji Tokadia was in village Tukda Porbandar (Gujarat) of Gujarat state. When it came to light that he was in village Tukda Porbandar (Gujarat) of Gujarat state, the police team formed under the leadership of SHO Banbasa arrested the accused Jai Joshi whose real name is Jaideep Ramji Tokadia and further investigation will be done under section 323/344/346/347/367/374/386/419/420/120B IPC.
SP told that during interrogation the accused accepted that he along with his friend Rahul Upadhyay had lured 03 youths of Banbasa area and 03 youths of Khatima area and called them to Baikok from where they were sold to foreign companies at the rate of 10000/- Thai Bhat per person. Accused Rahul Upadhyay related to the above case has fled to Dubai against whom necessary action is being taken for his arrest.
The accused already has a criminal history. Cases are registered against him in various police stations in the state and the absconding accused Rahul Upadhyay son of Satish Upadhyay is a resident of Awas Vikas Colony Khatima.
With the help of the Indian Embassy, Champawat Police has safely sent all the missing persons to their homes. After getting their children back home safely, the family members have praised the Champawat Police and thanked them.
